Is this the question? Will we be able to avoid it in the future? I don’t think so. The question is really HOW will you use the new “Copilot” from Microsoft and when?
If what was announced yesterday really happens, it will revolutionize the way we work. Never write an email (yourself) again? Have meetings prepared for you? Automate data management? Have things calculated and programmed for you? Have documents and information compiled for you? Have presentations and visualizations created for you? The possibilities seem endless – and all integrated into the tools we (well, me anyway) use every day… I found the capabilities of ChatGPT (unintegrated), Office scripts (in Excel) and Microsoft Graph alone… mindblowing. But now?!
Why do I think there is no way of avoiding it? Because this has always been the case: when something that makes people more productive conquers the (working) world. There are always early adopters and front runners who start using it immediately and become more productive as a result. And that changes the terms of competitiveness for everyone else. As a result, in the medium and long term, only those companies (depending on the sector) that embrace the topic of productivity with the help of new tools and technologies will survive. What we need now is…
…courage,
to connect our (company) data with artificial intelligence, as this is the only way to realize its full potential.
…motivation,
to keep up with the innovations that we are encountering at breathtaking speed and to learn to cope in this new world.
…a willingness to change,
to question our usual ways of working and thinking and to reinvent ourselves.
Now it’s time to keep at it, calmly, steadily but also critically, persistently and consistently. Are you in?
